Two Months Old

As you can tell, my baby boy has grown over the past month!  He gained 3 lbs since our last visit and one inch in length. He has started smiling, cooing and has even given us a few laughs. Time is going by too quickly and I can't believe I go back to work Monday.

Weight: 12 lbs 9.5 ounces
Length: 23 inches
Eating: He's eating 4-5 ounces every 3 hours.
Sleeping: Little man has slept a full 8 hours for the past 3 nights and hopefully this continues!
Likes: Being held and he LOVES his sissy (Boy does she love him too!)
Dislikes:  Getting his diaper changed and nose suctioned.  Sissy has had a runny nose and has passed it along to her bubba.

We went to the doctor this morning for his 2 month check up and shots.  As soon as Dr. L walked in the room, he commented on how much Jack resembled Addi and that he didn't notice it before.  I'm going to say this is b/c he finally has some meat on those bones! haha! Here is a side by side picture of Addi and Jack at 2 months...

Addi was a chunky monkey!  At 2 months old, he is only a 1/2 an inch bigger than she was when she was born!  He's trying to catch up to her b/c he LOVES his bottle!

Beach Trip 2013

This past weekend we made a last minute trip to the beach.  To be honest, I wasn't really looking forward to going because a) it was supposed to rain all weekend b) we would be traveling with an 8 week old and 3 1/2 year old and c) it was going to be a QUICK trip.  After it was all said and done, I'm glad we went.

This is what Addi thought about putting her feet in the sand...

She preferred the pool, so that's where we spent the majority of our time (when it wasn't raining)

She was a little unsure about the water at first, but by the time we left, she was swimming on her own (with her swimmies of course).

Jack didn't really care if we were at the beach or the pool.  He just wanted to snooze...

We also spent a lot of time shopping and eating yummy food at LuLu's, The Oyster House and Lamberts.  I did a horrible job of taking pictures.  I didn't take one family photo, but I did get this one of my baby girl...

She is growing up so fast! This trip definitely wore her out...

Let's Catch Up

I haven't posted in a few days, so this will probably be kind of random.

I go back to work at the end of this month, so I have been making all of the appointments I can between now and then.  Last Friday, I took Addi to get a much needed haircut and we made a trip to the eye doctor.

This was Addi's first trip to the salon and she did much better than I thought she would.  Every morning is a battle with trying to brush her hair (hence the before picture).  I'm talking running from me screaming when I even show her a brush.  She was such a big girl and even let them wash her hair.

The eye doctor was a little more eventful.  She was MUCH better than the last time we were there, but she still wasn't thrilled about having her eyes dilated.  He managed to see that she still has some farsightedness with an astigmatism.  This isn't much of a surprise b/c I have the same diagnosis.  He said it's not bad enough for glasses and we just need to keep an eye on it.

Apparently September is the month of birthdays.  Addi was invited to 5 birthday parties this month.  Three of them were last weekend, but we only made it to one of them.  One of her friends from her old daycare was having a party at the park and Addi had the best time playing with her friends!  She has missed them!

Football is in full swing and we always spend the majority of the weekends with friends watching the games.  Luckily for me everyone loves to hold baby Jack (I'm pretty sure he's going to be known as "baby Jack" until he's 18) so that lets me keep my eyes on Addi.

We played a little corn-hole and Brad made homemade onion rings and french fries which we ate with smoked chicken wings - yum!  All the kiddos had fun running around and playing together.

Monday, little man and I went to my 7 week post-op appointment.  She said everything looks great and I'm good to go!  I'm SO happy to be working out again.  I started doing a few at home workouts along with walking around the neighborhood and I'm a little sore, but feeling good!

And that's what we have been up to!

Hurdles

After everything that happened after Addi was born, the doctors told us everything from she could be blind to have serious developmental delays. Well, she is definitely not blind and while she is a few months behind other children her age, we think she has done tremendously well considering everything she went through.  She is definitely a trooper.

I have found myself in a state of worry whenever we approach a new "stage" in her life.  From getting rid of the paci, potty training and sleeping in a big girl bed, I have worried how she would handle each of these transitions.

In the past six weeks, she has experienced gaining a baby brother and switching schools.  She loves her brother more than anything.  She loves to hold him and "help" me feed him.  Changing schools has been a little more of a challenge.  She has done fantastic with the actual change - meeting new friends and minding her teachers.  Her new school is a little more structured and demanding when it comes to actual "school work" than what she is used to.  I have found myself worrying that she wont be able to keep up.  Will she be able to read and write by age 4 like other kids are doing?  Will she draw and color the best pictures?

I know one of the many reasons God chose Brad to be my husband is because he can bring me back to reality and tell me what I need to hear.  So what if she's not reading?  So what if she doesn't color in the lines?  She's 3.  THREE!  She will learn on her own time.  I hate telling him this, but he is right :)  Plus, in the long run, does it really matter?  No.  I would rather her learn to truly love and want to serve others and live her life for Jesus than being valedictorian.  That's what matters and is most important.

God has shown me that my worrying is for nothing and I need to lean on Him in everything.  Addi has done great with each new stage she goes through.  Getting rid of the paci was SO much easier than we ever expected.  Potty training went seamlessly and she hasn't had an accident in months.  She has gone over a week in her big girl bed.  I'm so proud of each thing she accomplishes.  I wouldn't change her for anything and i'm thankful God chose me to be her mommy!

Even though Addi has been sleeping in her own bed for the past week, she still likes for one of us to lay down with her until she falls asleep.  I have used this time to pray over her. This has quickly become one of my favorite times of the day and I look forward to praying for not only the things she will face in the coming days, but also the woman she will become.

Much Needed Long Weekend

Football season has officially begun, and our weekends will be filled with hanging out with friends, yummy food and football ALL day on Saturdays.  Friday was school spirit day at school.  I tried to get a good picture of Addi in her little Alabama dress, but she's not really a morning person and all she wanted to do was eat her french toast sticks :)

We all got up early Saturday, put on our game day attire.  Jack is wearing one of Brad's shirts from when he was a baby.  We went to some friends house to watch football and cookout.  Addi always has a blast when we go to their house because she can play with Colyn and Jacob - she LOVES them!

We haven't been to church since Jack was born and I still think he's a little too young to be around that many people, so Addi and I left Jack and Brad at home and we went to church without them.  It was great to be back!  That afternoon Addi went to spend the night with her grandparents and me, Brad and Jack went to dinner and to make a grocery store run.

One of our cousins came into town Monday to spend some time with my mom.  Addi and I went with them to visit Allison and Luke that afternoon.  Addi LOVED their cat, Edith (which is the BEST name for a cat btw - haha).  She wasn't too sure what to think about Luke at first, but they finally warmed up to each other and had some fun playing catch.  I guess that just means we need to spend more time together!

I love having these three day weekends to spend extra time with our family and friends and I can't wait until the next one!
