23 Weeks

I had another doctor's appointment this past Thursday.  I mentioned in a previous post that they noticed the marginal cord insertion in my last ultrasound and because of this, my doctor scheduled another ultrasound for me just to make sure Jack was growing like he should.  I'm happy to report that so far he is growing just like he should be, so I wont need another ultrasound to check his progress until later in the third trimester.  This visit I had to see another doctor in the practice and she was nice and all, but it made me realize how much I LOVE my doctor! Here are a few things going on with Jack and I at 23 weeks...

How far along?  23 Weeks

Baby is the size of...  Mango

Best moment this week?  Having another ultrasound and seeing my sweet baby wiggle and squirm around.

Miss anything?  I miss being able to bend over without groaning - haha!

Movement?  Lots of movement - I'm already seeing patterns in his movement.  Brad still hasn't really felt him move though.

Sleep?  I'm sleeping much better these days, except for getting up to go to the restroom once/twice a night.

Food cravings?  I have been craving more sweets lately - I could really go for an Icee right about now!

What makes you queasy/sick?  Just gross smells.

Morning sickness?  Nope.

Other symptoms?  I'm really tired.  I'm longing for a nap after lunch every day!

Gender?   It's a BOY

Looking forward to...  I have finally figured out how I want to decorate the nursery, so this week i'm excited about cleaning out the future nursery.

Weekend Projects

This weekend we spent a lot of money time in Home Depot hoping to cross some items off of our to do list I mentioned in my previous post.  I'm happy to report that I can now cross off the following two items:

2.  Buy some wood flooring for the attic.
5.  Paint the dresser in mine and Brad's room

Brad spent time flooring our attic in order to store all of the crap we have accumulated over the past five years a few boxes and Christmas decorations.  The last time we attempted to put some boxes in the attic, Brad's leg found it's way through our living room ceiling, so the flooring was definitely a necessity.

My project for the weekend was painting our outdated hand-me-down dresser that was in desperate need of painting.  Now this was my first time using Annie Sloan chalk paint and It was super easy to use.  I used the color Graphite along with the clear wax.  My favorite thing about it was how fast it dried.  I put two coats of paint and then waxed the entire thing and it only took me a couple of hours.  Here is the before and after...

Please excuse the bad lighting and picture from my phone :)  I like the way it turned out.  It's a more modern look to go along with the decor we have chosen for the bedroom.  I'm hoping next weekend we can buy a mount to hang the TV on the wall.

Brad and I also made a trip to Williams Orchard to pick up some things for a few landscaping projects Brad has on his never ending to-do list.  I'm always up for a trip to Williams Orchard b/c I love their banana nut bread and we also got some warm fried apple pies - yum!

Addi spent the night with Brad's parents on Friday and played with them most of the day Saturday.  It's amazing how much you can get done without a 3 year old running around (I missed her like crazy though!)

We ended our busy Saturday with having a bunch of friends over and a delicious smoked chicken Brad prepared.  Today, we had church, went out to eat and made yet another trip to Home Depot.  I hope everyone else had a great weekend!

Let the Updating Begin...

We have SO much to do in order to get ready for Jack's arrival.  The list seems to be never ending.  Along with transforming our guestroom upstairs into a nursery, Addi's room is getting an upgrade as well.  We will be putting new flooring in her room as well as a new coat of paint.  I'm also planning on painting the dresser in her room.

My past experience with painting furniture has not gone very well.  This time, i'm relying on Annie Sloan Chalk Paint to do the trick.  I will be practicing on the dresser in mine and Brad's bedroom before I tackle the one in Addi's room.  Last year, we painted our bedroom a light gray and bought dark gray bedding along with two mirrored nightstands.  This is the way our dresser currently looks (please excuse the dust)....

If all goes as planned, this baby will be "graphite" by this weekend.  I also need to be on the look out for some new hardware as well.  All of our furniture is hand me downs from when we got married (almost FIVE years ago!)  and there is no telling how old it was when we inherited it.  Our den furniture is the only thing new we have bought ourselves.

I love making lists b/c it's fun to cross things off and it makes me feel like i'm actually accomplishing something.  So here are some of our "to-do's" over the next couple of months...

1.  Repair the hole in our ceiling and repaint it.
2.  Buy some wood flooring for the attic.
3.  Put new flooring in Addi's and Jack's room.
4. Paint both Addi's and Jack's room.
5.  Paint the dresser in mine and Brad's room.
6.  Paint Addi's dresser.
7.  Finish the bathroom downstairs.
8.  Finish the man cave (new floor, sheet rock, ceiling, build a closet to enclose the gun safe, etc)
9.  Put cabinets in our laundry room.

Yep, we will be VERY busy!  (Actually Brad and his friends will be busy, I will just be telling them what to do! haha)  I also have no idea how I want to do the nursery...I guess I need to get on Pinterest to get some ideas.  I can't wait to update everyone on our progress!

Vegas Vacation 2

Brad and I got home last night from our trip to Vegas this past week.  We had a great time, even though the majority of my time was spent in conferences.  Brad had fun exploring the city on his own during the day and then we would meet up at night to explore some more.

We arrived at our hotel Tuesday night around 10 and we just went straight to the room b/c we were exhausted.  We stayed at the Aria and I loved it.  The last time we were there we stayed at a crappy hotel, but it's location was fantastic!  The Aria was really nice though and we definitely enjoyed our stay there.  The rooms were completely controlled by a touch-screen that was next to the bed.  At first it was a little to high tech for me, but I quickly learned how to use it and I wish we had the same set-up at home!  When we got there I decided to take a shower b/c I had been at work and then sat on an airplane most of the afternoon, so I just felt gross.  While I was in the shower, Brad went to get us some drinks and snacks.  During my shower, the lights completely went out.  I thought Brad was playing a trick on me, but I think the timer of the touch-screen control was set to turn the lights out at a certain time.  It definitely freaked me out - haha!

Wednesday, we ate breakfast at the cafe in the hotel.  I didn't realize it when ordering, but my glass of orange juice was $7.50!!! Yikes!  The food wasn't too expensive and it was really good.  We went to see Jersey Boys that night and it was really good.  I could have lived without hearing them use the "F" word a billion times, but other than that it was good!  I went with my co-worker b/c Brad is cheap and didn't want to pay for him a ticket :)  I think he would have liked it though!  Afterwards, Brad and I returned to the secret pizza place in the Cosmopolitan for a slice of pizza - so good!

My conference ended around 10:30 Friday morning, so we were able to explore Vegas together.  We walked A LOT.  I remember walking a good bit when we were there last summer, but walking on pregnant feet was horrible.  I bet we walked at least 7 miles Friday alone and man were my feet KILLING me by the time we got back to the hotel that night.  I'm still feeling the effects!  Brad treated both of us to a frozen hot chocolate from Serendipity and it made me forget the pain I was in for about 10 minutes :)  We went to the Bellagio, Caesar's Palace, Mandalay Bay, The Venetian and Treasure Island.  I needed to rest a little while, so we headed back to the Aria before hitting up the Monte Carlo, New York, New York, MGM and Excalibur.  Needless to say, we covered a lot of ground Friday!

Saturday morning Brad wanted "normal" food aka no croissants, crepes or quiche - we hit up Mickey D's instead.  We hung around the casino for a few hours before grabbing a taxi to the airport.

Overall, we had a great trip and I was able to spend some much needed alone time with my hubby.  I really enjoy Vegas because there is so much to do.  Our next trip there will include visiting The Grand Canyon and The Hoover Dam.  There just wasn't enough hours in the day this go round.  However, Las Vegas is called "sin city" for a reason, and some of the things you see and hear are sad really.  There were a ton of people there with children and I just don't get that.  A lot of the stuff we saw made me uncomfortable and I can't imagine bringing Addi or Jack there.

Even though we had a fun time, we were SO happy to see our Addi bug!  She has given us extra loves today and has been so sweet.  I think she missed us!

I didn't take my nice camera with us just because I didn't want to keep up with it, but I took these few pics with my phone...

 Our first morning in Vegas

 I haven't made a bump pic lately...He's growing!
