Christmas and MUCH More...

I didn't intend to go this long without posting anything, but life happens.  This time of year is always so full of activities and when you add two kiddos to the mix, it gets pretty crazy.  Here is a few snapshots of what we have been up to...

Santa was a success this year.  Little miss shyness even told him she wanted a "Sofia doll" for Christmas.

Brad and I ran our first 5k.  It was so much fun, we are running another one in a couple of weeks.  I guess we are addicted.  I would like to get a few 5k's under my belt before I even consider a 10k.

Addi had several "performances" this Christmas season.  The preschool choir sang during our church's Christmas dinner, she had her 3k program at school and then she played the hand bells at church one Sunday morning.

This little man experienced his first Christmas.  His teacher at school is amazing and they made SO many cute keepsakes, including his little onesie he is sporting here...

Addi after her class Christmas party...

We had a fantastic Christmas.  We tried really hard to make sure Addi knows the real meaning of Christmas.  I don't want her thinking it's all about Santa and how many presents you get.  Yes, our family does Santa, but he is definitely not our focus.

Last, but certainly not least, this buddy turned 5 months old.  I will hopefully do a 5 month post soon.

I can't believe this Christmas season has already come and gone!  I hope you and your families had a Merry Christmas as well :)

Four Months Old

This little fella is 4 months old and I just can't believe it.  I know I say each month how he is growing SO quickly and boy do I mean it.  He is the sweetest baby.  We went to the doctor last week b/c he had been so congested and coughing.  It turns out he had the beginnings of an ear infection.  When I took him back yesterday for his 4 month check-up, the doctor said his ears were definitely better than they were.  He did comment on his small ear canals (like his sister) and hinted that he might have more ear infections to come and might eventually need tubes.

Weight: 14lbs 13 oz 40th percentile
Length: 26 1/2 inches (I think - I should have written down what she said, but I forgot) I do remember he's in the 60th percentile for height.
Eating: .He was eating 6 oz every 4 hours, but Dr. L suggested we up that amount to 8 oz every 4 hours.  He was always content with the 6 oz, so I never thought to go up on his feedings.  He is chugging down those 8 oz though!  We will probably start cereal in a few weeks.
Sleeping:  He takes a morning and an afternoon nap and he sleeps from around 7:00pm - 5:45am each day.
Likes: To eat, his sissy, sitting up in his Bumbo or excersaucer.
Dislikes:  Tummy time!

Our Saturday Adventures

Addi and her Honey (Brad's mom) made a trip to the pumpkin patch a couple of weeks ago, but I wanted to take her as well.  Saturday afternoon my mom and I decided to take her again, so we could be a part of the action.  We went to a smaller pumpkin patch that is really close to our house.  It ended up being perfect b/c there was hardly anyone there, plus we couldn't have asked for better weather.  We started out with getting her face painted...

She decided on a purple butterfly

Little Miss Scarecrow

Hayride to the pumpkin patch

Off to find the perfect pumpkin

She decided to get one for Jack since she already had one

She loves her Nana!

She may or may not have had a temper-tantrum when it was time to get out of the bouncy house

After stopping to get some ice cream (chocolate with sprinkles, of course), we made our way home.  We were having friends over and they invited us to go to Boo at the Zoo with them that evening.  Addi LOVES Jacob and Colyn, so she was thrilled to go with them!  Here are a few pictures of our Boo at the Zoo adventure...

Princess Sofia (or as Addi would say, "Sofida")

She was exhausted and fell asleep before we even got to the zoo!

Oh how she loves him!

Riding the spooky carousel.  It went backwards and the lights flashed on and off - she LOVED it!

Family pic minus Jack.  Brad looks thrilled to be there - haha!

We had such a fun weekend, but I'm still exhausted!

Losing the Baby Weight - Part Two

I wrote part one of my "losing the baby weight" journey about two and a half months ago.  I have surprised myself and kept with it.  Since that post, I have lost about 25 pounds.  I'm so proud of myself and I feel SO much better!

My workout consists of just running/walking.  I know I should be doing more, but I'm not joining a gym right now and we don't have an elliptical or any equipment like that, so I just run outside in the afternoons and I walk at lunch time at work.  I started the couch to 5k program and i'm on week 4 right now.  My ultimate goal is to run a 5k in December.  I don't really care how fast I am, but I just want to run the entire thing without stopping.  Brad has also joined me in running and I'm so proud of him.  He's only been at it about a week and has already lost over 10 lbs!

As far as my diet is concerned, I am counting calories and cutting carbs.  I still eat the good carbs like oatmeal for breakfast and sweet potatoes - yum! I allow myself a few "cheats" during the week, but I find myself thinking about my food choices instead of just mindlessly eating because I'm hungry. The MyFitnessPal app along with my Fitbit has helped tremendously with keeping on track.  Brad got a Fitbit too and we love comparing our stats each night.

Hopefully with the holidays quickly approaching I will be able to stick with it and keep dropping those pounds!

Three Months Old

As you can see in the above pictures, Jack man is growing SO quickly!  It blows my mind that he is three months old. He is such a happy baby and only cries when he is hungry.  I love his smile and little laugh! His sissy LOVES him so much.  Brad and I were both worried that having a little brother would make Addi jealous and act out around him.  Thank goodness our worries were for nothing, b/c she loves him more than anything and always wants to help me take care of him.

Weight: I have no clue - we go to the doctor tomorrow and will find out then
Length: No idea!
Eating: .He eats 6 oz every 4 hours
Sleeping:  Brad and I are blessed with babies who love to sleep :)  He takes about a 3 hour nap in the morning, 2 hour nap in the afternoon, goes to bed around 6:30/7:00 and I have to wake him up at 6 AM to feed him and get him dressed for the day.
Likes: FOOD, his sissy, he also has a new love for the paci
Dislikes:  He doesn't really have many dislikes...maybe not getting him his bottle fast enough??

Two Months Old

As you can tell, my baby boy has grown over the past month!  He gained 3 lbs since our last visit and one inch in length. He has started smiling, cooing and has even given us a few laughs. Time is going by too quickly and I can't believe I go back to work Monday.

Weight: 12 lbs 9.5 ounces
Length: 23 inches
Eating: He's eating 4-5 ounces every 3 hours.
Sleeping: Little man has slept a full 8 hours for the past 3 nights and hopefully this continues!
Likes: Being held and he LOVES his sissy (Boy does she love him too!)
Dislikes:  Getting his diaper changed and nose suctioned.  Sissy has had a runny nose and has passed it along to her bubba.

We went to the doctor this morning for his 2 month check up and shots.  As soon as Dr. L walked in the room, he commented on how much Jack resembled Addi and that he didn't notice it before.  I'm going to say this is b/c he finally has some meat on those bones! haha! Here is a side by side picture of Addi and Jack at 2 months...

Addi was a chunky monkey!  At 2 months old, he is only a 1/2 an inch bigger than she was when she was born!  He's trying to catch up to her b/c he LOVES his bottle!

Beach Trip 2013

This past weekend we made a last minute trip to the beach.  To be honest, I wasn't really looking forward to going because a) it was supposed to rain all weekend b) we would be traveling with an 8 week old and 3 1/2 year old and c) it was going to be a QUICK trip.  After it was all said and done, I'm glad we went.

This is what Addi thought about putting her feet in the sand...

She preferred the pool, so that's where we spent the majority of our time (when it wasn't raining)

She was a little unsure about the water at first, but by the time we left, she was swimming on her own (with her swimmies of course).

Jack didn't really care if we were at the beach or the pool.  He just wanted to snooze...

We also spent a lot of time shopping and eating yummy food at LuLu's, The Oyster House and Lamberts.  I did a horrible job of taking pictures.  I didn't take one family photo, but I did get this one of my baby girl...

She is growing up so fast! This trip definitely wore her out...

Let's Catch Up

I haven't posted in a few days, so this will probably be kind of random.

I go back to work at the end of this month, so I have been making all of the appointments I can between now and then.  Last Friday, I took Addi to get a much needed haircut and we made a trip to the eye doctor.

This was Addi's first trip to the salon and she did much better than I thought she would.  Every morning is a battle with trying to brush her hair (hence the before picture).  I'm talking running from me screaming when I even show her a brush.  She was such a big girl and even let them wash her hair.

The eye doctor was a little more eventful.  She was MUCH better than the last time we were there, but she still wasn't thrilled about having her eyes dilated.  He managed to see that she still has some farsightedness with an astigmatism.  This isn't much of a surprise b/c I have the same diagnosis.  He said it's not bad enough for glasses and we just need to keep an eye on it.

Apparently September is the month of birthdays.  Addi was invited to 5 birthday parties this month.  Three of them were last weekend, but we only made it to one of them.  One of her friends from her old daycare was having a party at the park and Addi had the best time playing with her friends!  She has missed them!

Football is in full swing and we always spend the majority of the weekends with friends watching the games.  Luckily for me everyone loves to hold baby Jack (I'm pretty sure he's going to be known as "baby Jack" until he's 18) so that lets me keep my eyes on Addi.

We played a little corn-hole and Brad made homemade onion rings and french fries which we ate with smoked chicken wings - yum!  All the kiddos had fun running around and playing together.

Monday, little man and I went to my 7 week post-op appointment.  She said everything looks great and I'm good to go!  I'm SO happy to be working out again.  I started doing a few at home workouts along with walking around the neighborhood and I'm a little sore, but feeling good!

And that's what we have been up to!
