Birthday Celebrations/Christmas Eve

Christmas really snuck up on me this year.  I'm not sure if it's because the weather has been so warm or I was just that unprepared, but it just feels like the time period from Thanksgiving to Christmas Day flew by.

This past Saturday night Brad took me to J. Alexanders for my birthday dinner.  My mom kept Addi bug so we could have a peaceful night.  We then took a romantic trip to Sams to finish up our shopping.  I have hated my phone since I got it two years ago, so he finally bought me the iPhone 5 while we were there.  I had an iPhone before switching to an Android.  Brad swore up and down the Android was better and I would love it.  Yeah, he  was wrong.  I hated it.  Needless to say I love having my iPhone again!

Christmas Eve is my birthday, so we woke up early and went to Cracker Barrel for breakfast.

We always celebrate Christmas with my cousin and her family Christmas Eve at lunch time.  This year we had my favorite meal my grandmother used to make me every b'day - chicken fingers, mashed potatoes and green beans along with Cheesecake Factory Hershey Bar Cheesecake for dessert -yum!  Brad gave me a giftcard to the Gap to buy maternity clothes in a few months and my mom gave me a Michael Kors watch I have been wanting.

Addi wasn't sure about us giving Luke (or Wuke as she says) any attention.  Brad held him and Addi kept saying "It's my daddy".  She slowly but surely warmed up to him and then began to even share her toys!

That night, my mom gave Addi her gifts.  She is obsessed with princesses and all things "Punzel".  I think we have watched Tangled approximately 5837 times.  No Lie.  Here she is opening a princess castle and sporting her Repunzel wig :)

My mom came to our house to spend the night so she could be there when Addi opened up her Santa presents.  I will have to do a separate post on that tomorrow :)

8 Weeks

Brad and I went to the doctor for my first prenatal appointment.  I had an ultrasound and everything looks great so far.  The baby's heart rate was 151.  I'm actually going to a different doctor than the one who delivered Addi.  During this appointment, Brad and I had many questions and I wanted her to know that I wanted complete honesty and nothing hidden during this delivery.  Since Addi was pretty big (8lbs 9oz and 22 1/2 inches long), i'm almost positive i'm having a c-section.  She told me that was totally up to me and assured me no vacuums or other instruments would be used.  I feel so much more comfortable with her and I'm thankful for her being so upfront with me about different things.  It's definitely put my mind at ease.  I know things weren't handled the way they should have been with Addi's delivery, but I'm confident things will go differently this time.

I feel huge.  I've been told that I will grow bigger faster during the 2nd pregnancy and I definitely agree with them!  Of course I never lost the weight after I had Addi like I intended to.  I just knew I wanted to have another baby, so why would I kill myself losing the weight just to gain it all back??  That might be crazy thinking, but that's how my mind works! haha.  After this one, i'm done, so the weight WILL be gone! (I hope!)

I get nauseous every now and then, but it's mostly because I haven't eaten anything.  I haven't thrown up or gotten as sick as I did with Addi.  I just try to keep some crackers and zofran on hand to fight off the nausea.  Certain foods don't sound good to me, but that list is short and I'm eating pretty much anything.

So far, so good!

A Little Blessing

*I wrote this when I first found out I was pregnant 12/5/12

The past month or so I have become content with having just one child.  I have always said I wanted more than one because Brad and I were only children and I just wanted a bigger family.  While I enjoyed being an only child (it definitely has its perks), it was still kind of lonely with no one really to play with.

Anyways, I had just started to like the idea of Addi being an only child, and then......I took a pregnancy test! Brad and I will be expecting our new little bundle of joy around August.  I'm only like 4 weeks and I haven't even been to the doctor yet.  My appointment is December 19th.

Brad and I have decided not to tell anyone until I go to the doctor and make sure everything is ok.  I wanted to write down everything as it happens, so I won't be positing these until we let the news out :)  Our parent's know, but that's about it.  When I found out I was pregnant with Addi, I told everyone really early.  I just want to wait and make sure everything is ok before we let the news out.

Right now, i'm feeling good.  The only thing that's bothering me right now is I have a horrible headache from cutting out caffeine and I'm exhausted.  I know it's only going to get worse in the next couple of weeks.  When I was pregnant with Addi, I became sick around week 6, so i'm hoping and praying I don't get sick this time!

Working full time and being pregnant isn't the best mix.  I remember constantly running out of my office to the bathroom every morning.  Now that I have started a new job (and the bathroom is a lot further away from my desk), i'm hoping and praying if I do get sick it's at home.

Since I didn't write down anything while I was pregnant with Addi, i'm excited to document this pregnancy!

Random Happenings

There has been so much going on lately that I've just been too busy to update this 'ol thing.  I started my new job two weeks ago and I really love it so far!  It's completely different than my previous job, but I think it's a good fit for me.  I've been so busy learning my new responsibilities that by the end of the day i'm exhausted and just want to rest.  I have been skipping out on watching tv, reading blogs or creepin' on FB in order to catch some Z's.  Another great thing about my new job is my office building is attached to a local mall - this is good news for me and bad news for my hubby :)  I have been doing a lot of this...

This weekend, I have managed to get the Christmas Tree up and decorated.  I have misplaced the ornaments for Addi's tree, but as soon as I find them, I will be putting hers up too.  My mom and I did a little shopping yesterday and I picked up this little guy...

Several things that happened this morning led to us not making it to church today.  I was really disappointed b/c this is the second week in a row we haven't been since we had to keep the nursery last week.  Oh well, we will try again next Sunday.

I did manage to make a Publix run and grab everything I need for this week and Thanksgiving.  The store was already crazy, but I'm glad it's done!  Now, I'm doing a little online shopping to buy some Christmas presents and hanging out with this precious little girl...

Also, if you have time please check out a few pictures that Brittany of The Magnolia Pair took of Addi at the end of summer.  I thought she did a GREAT job and I can't wait to see the rest of them!

We had a pretty relaxing weekend.  Addi and I played A LOT while Brad helped his parent's move into their new house.  We only left the house to go to the grocery store, church and a trip to Sam's!

Last night, we went to some friends house to watch the Alabama game, but I ended up leaving with Addi after eating dinner b/c she needed to go to bed.

Nap time apparently doesn't exist at home anymore.  She naps anywhere from 1 1/2 to 2 hours at daycare, but she fights sleep on the weekends.  Tonight, she fell asleep around 6:00, but i'm guessing some of that has to do with the time change.

I didn't take any pictures either.  I know it wasn't very exciting, but that was our weekend :)

A New Chapter

I have recently accepted a job offer.  My first day is tomorrow and I'm both nervous and excited at the same time.  I'm most nervous about leaving something so familiar to me and having to start something new and meet new people.  I have built relationships with so many people where I am now and I truly love them.  They have been there for my family the entire time Addi was sick and when my dad passed away.  They showed us in an unbelievable way that were there for us whenever we needed them.  We didn't even have to ask, they were just there.

God has placed an opportunity in my lap and for some reason I can't comprehend that I even deserve it.  I automatically ask, "What's the catch?"  I just had to tell myself that God isn't mean, tricky or out to get me.  He LOVES us and wants to lead us down a path that will, in the end, glorify Christ.  I need to stop thinking about the "risk" i'm taking and just jump in and take the next step to living out His plan.  I'm so thankful and I know He will be with me every step of the way.

Disney on Ice

Last night I took Addi to Disney on Ice: Treasure Trove.  We went with my friend Lori and her kids.  This was Addi's first time to go and she LOVED it.  I think she would have preferred the Mickey Mouse gang be out there longer b/c every time they left she would say "Mouseeeee!"  At one point I thought she was going to have a fit that they left, but the rest of the characters managed to keep her attention until Mickey came back :)

Now, I have been to Disney on Ice before, but it was a long time ago.  I knew the prices for treats would be expensive, but my goodness!  By the time I parked, bought her a snow cone and light up toy, I had spent $50.  I wanted some cotton candy, but I had ran out of cash before I could buy some (it was $12 btw!)

Trying some of Mrs. Lori's cotton candy (she didn't like it)

Halloween 2012

In my post yesterday I said we were just going to have a little party of our own since Addi was sick.  Well, I lied.  We ended up doing a little trick or treating.  When I got home from work, Brad told me she had taken a 4 hour nap and she was running around like she was finally feeling better.  My mom came over and after we ate our chili and grilled cheese (I didn't have time for the ooey gooey bars, but i'm hoping I will this weekend!), we loaded up the wagon and headed out into our neighborhood!

She had SO much fun!  This was her first time trick or treating and she loved it and kept saying "I got candy!" with a huge grin on her face.  Our neighborhood is kind of hill-y and the driveways are steeper than I would like to walk up, so next year i'm going to have to prepare for that b/c I was worn out afterwards!  We were only going to go to a few houses, but Brad said she was having so much fun that we needed to keep going.

Here are a few pics...

Riding her horse (this was Brad's when he was little - his grandfather made it!)

Ready to go!

Watching all of the other kids

Checking out her loot!

Happy Halloween

Happy Halloween!  I'm not a huge fan of Halloween and all things scary, but it is fun to dress up and see all of the fun costumes (and eat lots of candy!).  We usually just dress Addi up and go to our church fall festival.  This year, Addi has a horrible sinus infection, so we are planning on staying home. Her daddy is home with her today and they are watching a ton of Annie!  I know he loves that :)  My mom is coming over and i'm going to make chili, grilled cheese sandwiches and ooey gooey pumpkin bars - yum!

I bought a cupcake costume for her to wear, but when I tried it on her Saturday, she flipped out.  Plan B is dressing her up in a way where she doesn't know she is dressed up - haha.  Therefore, she's going to be a cowgirl!  Since she LOVES her boots, I figured this would be the perfect costume!  Even if we don't go anywhere tonight, i'm still going to dress her up so I can take some pics.

Here are some pictures of Halloween's past...

These Boots are Made for Walkin'

Those of you who read this little blog of mine will probably see these boots A LOT this fall/winter!  She will not take them off.  Yesterday, I told her to go get her shoes and she said, "No!  My boots!"  These boots were Brad's when he was about 3 years old.  Which means they are almost 30 years old!  While in Wal-Mart yesterday a girl came up to me and asked where I bought them.  When I told her they were my husband's from when he was little, she said "I thought they looked antique" bahahaha!  I'm guessing I need to go ahead and buy another pair since her foot seems to grow what seems like a size a month.  Thank goodness she let me put her tennis shoes on her this morning for school!  Also, I just recently bought myself a pair...

Our Weekend

This weekend was fabulous and I'm still not ready for it to end!  I happened to have a three day weekend.  Friday, I slept until 10:30 (off and on) and it was much needed.  A couple of friends from work and I went to the spa that afternoon to get massages.  That night my bff Janna came to town and we went to dinner and then to our high school's football game.  It's hard to believe it has been almost 10 years since we graduated!  Time has really flown by.

Saturday morning, Addi and I went with Sadie and Leah to Old Baker's Farm to the pumpkin patch.  Addi was SO good.  She loved the hayride and picking out a pumpkin.  However, the animals at the petting zoo were not her fav.  It was really cold that morning and thank goodness they had an arts and crafts festival type thing, so I was able to buy her a little hat to wear.  I took my camera, but when I got it out to take a picture, I realized I had left the SD card at home - oops!  This is the only picture I took w/my phone.  Leah took some pictures, so I will do another post once she e-mails them to me.

That night, we went to Gadsden to my aunt's house for a little Halloween get together.  Addi had a blast with Uncle Cecil and followed him around all night.  She came home with a bag of candy that she has loved getting into!

We didn't do much today except relax, but tonight we met up with our small group for dinner and to assemble boxes for Operation Christmas Child.  Each couple is doing two boxes and I chose to do one of the boxes for a 2-4 yr old girl so Addi could help me fill it with some of her favorite things.  She had fun picking out "prizes" for our box.

First Trip to the Dentist

Addi has been to her fair share of doctor's appointments already in her short little life.  Most of the time she does great and they can even manage to get a smile out of her.  Today's trip to the dentist, however, was horrible.  It started off great b/c they had a slide in the waiting room.  She had so much fun having it all to herself.  Even though she kept saying "my turn" and she was the only one playing on it - haha.

Once they called her name she marched in there like a big girl.  The hygienist explained to her what all of her instruments were and let her hold them all.  So far, so good.  UNTIL....we actually needed her to lay down and open her mouth up.  She screamed and cried.  Bless her.  We had to kind of hold her down so she could quickly brush her teeth and look at them.  The dentist said her teeth look great, she has all of them, but they are really close together and I will need to try to floss her teeth.  Um, how in the world am I supposed to floss a 2 year old's teeth??  This should be fun!  At least she loves brushing her teeth {she just refuses to let anyone else do it}  He also told me to start saving for braces.  Joy.

I wanted to get a "first time at the dentist" picture, but this is the best I got b/c she refused to stand by herself.  We go back in May and hopefully she will do better then :)

Things actually got worse when it was time to leave b/c she wanted to slide some more.  I took her out kicking and screaming and it took me a good 10 minutes to get her to sit in her car seat.  Once we started Annie and went through the Jack's drive-thru for "hashrowns", she was good to go!

Homestead Hollow

I'm a little late on this post, but last weekend we went to a local arts and crafts festival not too far from our house.   Addi did really well and just rode in the stroller the whole time.  I think she had fun watching our friends' two little boys.  She didn't care anything about riding the ponies, but she liked looking at them from a distance and looking at the turkey, chickens and ducks.  I didn't take that many pictures, but here are the ones I did take...

The weather was absolutely perfect this weekend!  Friday night, Addi experienced her first high school football game.  My little cousin is a cheerleader, so we took a little road trip to see her.  I was kind of nervous to see how Addi would do at the game, but she loved it!  She was mesmerized by the bands as well.  She LOVES my cousin Bill and she loved sitting with him.

Saturday, Brad was playing golf, so we spent some time at the park and Chick-Fil-A with Nana.  Brad's mom came to get her that afternoon so she could spend the night with them.  I put Brad's boots from when he was little on her and apparently she HAD to wear them this morning to church with her smocked dress and refused to put on her dress shoes!  I hope Honey took a picture b/c she was already changed by the time I got home this afternoon.

After church, mom and I went to lunch and did a little shopping.  We came home to little miss priss pitching the biggest fit ever.  She finally got over her attitude and we have had a great night.  I'm exhausted and 5:15 is going to come realllly early!  I hope everyone else had a good weekend!
