First Haircut and More...

Addi's hair has been growing like crazy!  Her bangs were getting too long and were always in her eyes.  I tried to tame them with bows, but she's stubborn and won't keep a bow in her hair! I probably could have cut them myself, but I was nervous I might screw them up somehow.  Luckily, one of my friends cuts my hair and we went to her house Friday night and all three of us got our haircut! She was such a good girl!
Saturday morning, one of my bffs and I went to some yard sales.  I love a good yard sale!  I got a few good deals, but Addi's favorite thing I bought was a stroller for her to play with.  My $1 was well spent!  She's been pushing her teddy or baby around and crashing into the sofa saying "boom!".  Haha!  My mom came over last night and told Addi to sit down in her chair.  Well...instead of sitting in her chair she took her doll out of the stroller and proceeded to TRY to sit in it herself.  Needless to say, it ended with her on the floor and in tears!  She wanted to sit in the stroller so bad - bless her!

We also had to go buy new shoes this weekend.  Addi is moving up to a new class at daycare tomorrow and they have to wear closed toe shoes because they play on the playground.  She is getting to be such a big girl!!  They are also going to be sitting at the table to eat and using a fork.  I have tried giving her a fork or spoon to use and it just ends up being SO messy! I usually give up, but I guess I will really have to start working with her now.

Today, after church, Brad's parents took Addi for the afternoon and I was able to take a VERY LONG nap.  It was much needed!  Now it's time to get everything ready for another work week!  I hope everyone else had a great weekend!

What I'm Loving Wednesday...

I decided to link up again with Jamie's What I'm Loving Wednesday! So here are a few things I'm Loving on today...

I'm loving this low-fat chocolate chip zucchini bread. It is sooo yummy!  I made some last night and ate it for breakfast this morning - delish!

I'm loving these Sun-San Sandals.  They are my favorite sandals for my Addi bug and she is already on her 4th pair.  I love that she can wear them with anything and even to church...
I'm loving home grown tomatoes...I could probably eat a tomato sandwich everyday!

I'm loving Polkadot Posies.  They have 6.5 in. bows for $3!!!  I have already ordered 6 and I definitely plan on making another order soon. (if only Addi will keep them in her hair!)
And last but certainly not least...I love these two sweetie-pies SO much!

Lately

I thought I would write a little update on what's been going on lately...

I FINALLY got this...
Which means I will be taking TONS of pictures.  Right now I'm just trying to figure the camera out, so don't judge my picture taking skills. I'm loving it so far! Here are a few pictures that I have taken this week...
Getting ready for "school"
Pretty Girl!
Always on the go!
Eating french toast sticks and strawberries!
Blowing kisses
Playing with her puzzle while watching Mickey!

Another thing that has been going on is that I joined Weight Watchers about 2 weeks ago.  I've only lost about 5 lbs, but that's because I'm pretty much eating what I want on Saturdays and Sundays.  For instance, today I was really good for breakfast and lunch, but for dinner we got Big Bolton's to go and I had ribs and fries...We also splurged and got a piece of Reese Cup Pie.  It was good though!   I haven't had a problem staying with the diet during the week though.  I've found a really good website to help me out with recipes - Skinny Taste

We have a bbq trailer that is set up at a gas station about a mile from our house (wow, that sounds redneck!) Brad and I have stopped there a few times and it's really good.  But, today, we saw another trailer set up next to it and it was shaved ice!!! YUMMM!  I didn't have any cash to stop today, but we will definitely be stopping by tomorrow if it's there.  I LOVE snow cones!

I've been sorting through all of Addi's clothes she can't wear anymore in order to sell them.  I've debated selling them because I thought if we have another girl that I could pass them down.  But then I decided that I would want to buy new clothes all over again if we got pregnant again! haha.  So, I would rather have the money now and be able to buy Addi new clothes for this fall/winter.  I'm definitely saving all of her clothes that really mean something and Brad requested that I save all Bama stuff.  haha.  I forgot how many clothes she had!

Today, we had to reduce the price of our house by $15,000.  We also decided to put it up for rent.  I'm REALLY hoping it sells.  I can't wait to get rid of that house! Please pray it sells quickly.  It's been on the market since March (I think) and no one has even looked at it.  We also have to find and repair a water leak because we got a $400 water bill last month.

I know this is a completely random post, but this is what's been going on with the Alstons lately!

You talkin' to me?

Addi had her speech therapy evaluation last Thursday. I was anxious to talk to the therapist because I was just so confused as to how she would work with a 16 month old who doesn’t really talk much? I learned A LOT! First of all, she thinks Addi might be delayed with her speech obviously because of the head trauma she had at birth, but also because of all of the ear infections she had last year. She said it’s basically like having a head full of water. I know I hate when I have water in my ears or they are stopped up, so I can’t imagine what Addi was feeling! Currently, she is at a 9 month level with her language expression and a 12 month level with language comprehension. So basically she understands what we are saying, but she can’t really express herself through verbal communication. Right now she says about 6 words, but it should be more. She said because Addi has excellent social skills and plays very well that her language expression is very “fixable”. I was SO happy to hear that! I was even happier to hear that the therapist will be working with her twice a month! I will be sitting in on the visits once a month as well. One of the tips she gave me was to read, read, read! Addi loves for you to read to her, so I went and bought even more books this weekend. I think I have read Brown Bear, Brown Bear 20 times since Saturday, haha!

Addi also had her physical therapy last week. She is doing very well and we are currently working on going up and down the stairs. So far so good! She is very cautious and is always stepping around toys and anything that might be in her way. Most kids plow right over stuff and end up falling. Her teacher at daycare was even bragging about her being so careful compared to the other girls in her class. We both thought that it was a good thing, but her PT said she needs to work on stepping over the toys, not around them. We have a lot of “homework”, but I’m SO proud of the progress she has made so far!

16 Months

It's been a while since my last post, but I thought I would do a 16 month update on my Addi girl!

Saying that she is into everything and all over the place would be an understatement.  She is wide open all of the time.  She is talking more and more - we may not be able to understand a word she says, but she is talking nonetheless!  She will get right up in your face and say "hey!!".  That word has definitely been mastered.  She has also developed this fake laugh.  Every time someone starts laughing she busts out in a fake laugh and it cracks me up haha!

Her sleep schedule is going fantastic!  I put her to bed anywhere between 7 and 8 and she sleeps throughout the night - no crying or anything!  In fact, she's sleeping soundly as I type.  She's just like her momma in the fact that she's not a morning person.  Here's a picture of her on the way to daycare...
Her hair is growing like crazy!  I want to get her little bangs trimmed b/c they are always in her face, but daddy says no.  He wants her to have long hair.  I agree, so it looks like I need to be purchasing more bows!  I attempted a pony tail, but it still needs some work, haha!
Here a few things I want to remember about Addi at 16 months:
*She still loves Mickey Mouse and Fresh Beat Band
*She LOVES giving hugs and kisses - she has a book with kittens in it and she has to hug every kitten - haha!
*She will eat anything
*She wears size 4 diaper, 18-24 month clothing and size 6 shoe
*We only give her a paci at night
*She loves playing with her baby dolls and her kitchen
*She loves having her teeth brushed
