Blog Makeover

So, I haven't exactly been working on my 101 50 in 1001.  See previous post here.  If i'm going to accomplish anything on that list, then I need to get busy!

Today, I thought I would start working on #30.  A blog makeover!  I read a tutorial on how to make a simple custom blog header, and I thought I would give it a try.  First of all, it's just a start.  I have spent almost an hour working on it and it still has a LONG way to go.  The pictures that are on there now are Addi's 6 month portraits.  We are going to be doing birthday and family portraits within the next month and I will update the pictures then.  I'm awful at taking pictures which is why I chose professional pictures to use instead of my own!

I'm trying to learn how to change things up on this blog by myself instead of using a blog designer.  I would rather just use a designer to do all of the work, but I think I will save my cash for something else! :)

Weekend Recap

This past weekend was very relaxing and it was nice not having any "big" plans.  Friday night, we went to a local bbq restaurant in Springville and ate dinner.  It was so nice to spend time with just Brad and Addi.  We started off giving Addi cheerios to keep her occupied at the restaurant, but when our meals came, Brad decided to give her a french fry.  She LOVES fries! Just like her mama! haha.  I wish I didn't love them as much as I do :).  After trying the fries, she was so over the cheerios.

Saturday, Brad had to go out of town for a work meeting, so Addi and I just hung out together!  Since she has started crawling, she is into EVERYTHING...
In this picture she is getting into my coupons.  I had all of them filed and organized by date.  Needless to say they aren't like that anymore!

Sunday, we went to church and then out to eat with friends and then our small group that night.  I'm really loving getting to know everyone in our group!

I have been sick all weekend with congestion and coughing, but this morning I woke up feeling like I had been hit by a train!  I called into work and made a trip to the doctor.  He just said I had a bad cold and gave me a few prescriptions.  I stopped at the Palace on my way home and got some soup.  It always makes me feel better when I have a cold!  I have spent the rest of the afternoon resting.  I sure do miss my Addi bug and I can't wait until Brad gets home with her!

I hope everyone else had a great weekend!

Weekend Recap

Brad went hunting this past weekend, so Addi and I packed up and went to stay with my mom since she was by herself.  For some reason Addi doesn't sleep well at her house and she fought sleep until about 10:30.

Saturday morning, mom watched Addi while I went to have a massage/facial!  My mother-in-law gave me a gift card for Christmas and I couldn't wait to use it!! It was WONDERFUL!  Massages are my favorite.  When I was pregnant I would always go get one and they made me feel so much better.  I wish I could afford to have one every week.

Sunday we went to church, out to eat and then to visit my dad.  He is doing so much better.
Sunday night we went to meet with our small group.  By the time we got home we were all exhausted and crashed!  5:30 came early this morning that's for sure!

I have some big news - ADDI IS FINALLY CRAWLING!  Last week, I noticed she was rocking back and forth on her knees and then it just a few days later she started moving forward!  At first she would only crawl for cookies, but she's moving all over the place now.  We are now in the market for baby gates!

She is still doing great with table food.  Her teachers said she ate a good lunch - chicken nuggets, mashed taters and green beans.  Tonight she had macaroni and cheese and peas.  She will still eat baby food, but I'm trying different foods with her all the time now.

Touchdown!

Last night before the Auburn game, Brad and I were trying to teach Addi to raise her hands when we said "touchdown".  She didn't catch on, but we tried again this afternoon and she did it! Haha! Here's a little video...

Snowed In

Last night around 4:30 the sleet/snow started here in B'ham.  The weatherman has been talking about snow the entire week and it finally came!  We decided to come to my parent's house and stay with my mom since dad is still in the hospital and they have an alternate source of heat if the power were to go out.  Luckily, the power didn't go out!  But we have had fun spending time with mom and each other.  Addi has been in such a good mood this weekend.  We have discovered Mickey Mouse Clubhouse is her favorite!  We've watched it several times before, but yesterday afternoon when I put it on she started clapping and wouldn't take her eyes off of it!! She was SO cute!

Once the ice started accumulating, we heard kids sleighing down the hill around 10:30 last night.  I'm not a huge fan of the snow, but I did slide down the hill twice today and then I was over it!  We bundled Addi up and took her outside and made a few pictures and quickly got her back inside.

The rest of the day I have spent watching tv, napping and playing on the internet. I have been searching different websites and blogs looking for different decorating ideas. I REALLY want to start re-decorating our house room by room.  I think I want to start with our bedroom.  I'm not much of a decorator and tend just to buy whatever is on sale.  But this time I'm going to put some effort into it!  We desperately need a new bedroom suite.  The one we have is a hand me down.  Here are a few beds that I really like:

I also like this one from JC Penney.  I can't figure out how to post the pics like the others.  My problem with re-decorating is I like too many styles!  I'm so indecisive and it drives me crazy.  Also, I love the Pottery Barn style, but I have an IKEA budget. :)  So, most of the time everything I like is out of our budget - which can be very frustrating.  I'm sure consignment furniture stores and craigslist will be my best friend during this project!

Big Girl Food

In my last post, I commented on how we were going to be working on getting Addi to eat table food.  Well, this morning when I got to the daycare I told one of her teachers that I would like for them to try feeding her table food.  When I showed up this afternoon to pick her up they said she ate chicken noodle soup, grilled cheese sandwich and pudding!!  I was so surprised b/c when I try to feed her something other than baby food, she just shakes her head "no". I guess they have a little more practice introducing new foods to babies than I do. :)

Update on dad...
He's still in the hospital, but he's in his own room now.  They will hopefully be moving him to a rehab facility sometime this week so he can start gaining his strength back.  He's so weak from laying in bed for 4 weeks.  He misses Addi so much.  I try to avoid taking her to a hospital b/c of all the infectious diseases that are lurking around.  Once he goes to rehab, I will be able to take her to see him! He will probably be in rehab for 3-6 weeks.  Please continue to pray for him and my mom.  She's been through a lot this past month!

10 Months Old Already??

I know I say this every time I do a monthly update of my Addi, but I seriously can not believe it's been 10 months already!!! She's growing too fast! I have already started to plan her first birthday party :) I bought her a pretty smocked birthday dress today!!

Here are some things about Addi at 10 months...
* She weighs 23 pounds
* I think the doctor said she was 27 inches long (I honestly don't remember)
* She's still wearing 12-18 month clothes.  Some 9 month stuff still fits.
* She still eats 3 meals a day along with 4 bottles and a snack.  We are working on eating table food, but she prefers the jar stuff (nasty).  She gags when I gave her the meat baby food, so I just skip that :).  She loves gerber cheese puffs and ritz crackers.
* She claps her hands when we say pattycake
* She's not very good at waving, but when she does it's with both hands.
* "dada" and "kitty" are the only words she says
* Not crawling yet, but scoots everywhere.  She will go from sitting to crawling position and back to sitting position.
* She will pull up on anything and stand by herself.  I think she will walk before she crawls.
* Bath time is her favorite.  I'm pretty sure she could stay in the tub and play for hours...
* She fights sleep like crazy.  Most nights she falls asleep like this...
* We are currently having sleeping issues.  After she falls asleep we put her in the crib and after a few hours she wakes up and when she realizes we aren't there, she cries.  As soon as I go get her and put her in bed with us, she falls right asleep! I've tried to let her cry it out, but that doesn't seem to work. I don't want this to become a habit, any suggestions on what to do??

* Earlier this month she got tubes.  That seems to have helped SO much!  She's been snotty lately, but when I took her to the doctor, he said her ears were perfect and it's probably just a cold and to wait it out.  We are visiting the ENT Friday for another hearing screen.

I'm SO thankful for my precious baby girl and I love her very much!

2010

I'm a few days late, but I thought I would write a little bit about this past year.

2010 has taught me a lot.  One of the main things I learned is to NEVER underestimate God and his abilities.  I'll have to admit that I questioned God over the course of this past year.  I was constantly asking "Why?".  I had to continue to remind myself that God will never give us more than we can handle.  Although we may not understand why we have to go through certain things, we need to remember that His plan is greater than ours.  It's so easy to rely on God when things aren't going our way or we are facing tragedy.  This year i'm going to focus on praising Him during good times and bad.

2010 has also brought us new friendships.  We became more involved in our small group at church.  Since my dad has been sick, we haven't been at church b/c we have been helping my mom out, but we plan on getting back this next week. This year, I look forward to spending more time with these awesome people.  I thank God for putting them into our lives.

Even though 2010 has been full of ups and downs, I'm thankful for all of the lessons I have learned.  I'm SO ready for 2011!
