Praises

There are a lot of reasons to smile today! We went this morning for her check-up with the Neurologist. It was a great visit! He said everything looks good so far and he was very encouraged. He also said that she seems to be right on target with her motor skill development. He didn't even want to run any tests on her today b/c of how good she was doing. We go back in 3 months for another EEG. During that visit he will determine if she needs another MRI. As far as her medication goes, we are going to ween her off of it! In a month she will be medication free! The only "negative" thing he had to say was that she could be at risk for seizures later in life. Only time will tell and we will continue to pray that this does not happen. God is so good! Our prayers have definitely been answered and we are still so thankful for all of the love and support that has been sent our way. There is so much power in prayer and Addi is proof of that.

I needed to do some work around the house yesterday so I decided to put Addi in her swing and let her watch Praise Baby. She normally cries every time I put her in the swing or bouncy seat so I was a little apprehensive. She LOVES Praise Baby!! She never took her eyes off the TV. I only bought one dvd, but I'm for sure going to buy the rest of them soon!

She loves when daddy gets home from work!

On a different note, I started my personal training sessions yesterday. She worked out my abs. Oh my gosh - I'm so sore! I went to the tanning bed right after I went to the gym last night and I could barely get out of the bed!! I've only paid for three sessions with the trainer and I'm still not sure if I will continue once my sessions are up!

Today has been a VERY long day and I'm about to cut coupons and head to bed! Goodnight!

Weekend Recap

This weekend was pretty uneventful - as usual! The nasty weather put a damper on our plans to go buy furniture Saturday. Oh well, maybe next weekend! We did however buy a mattress!! FINALLY! The one we had was another hand me down and was awful. They delivered the new one today and I can't wait to sleep on it tonight (if Addi will let me!).

Because of the rain, I spent literally ALL weekend watching The Hills marathon. Waste of time? Maybe - but I enjoyed it :) Around 9:00 Saturday night I got the urge to clean out my closet. WOW that was a lot of work! I didn't realize how many maternity clothes I actually bought. I can't decide whether or not to keep them for next time or just sell them. Maternity clothes are so expensive, so I will probably just keep them. While I was working hard on my closet, this is what Addi was doing -
Sunday, I went to a bridal tea. Before I went, I tried on every single dress I have and only 1 fit. This is sooooooo annoying. I hate not having anything to wear! I need to get off my lazy butt and start a diet. I would much rather work out and eat what I want instead of dieting too. My date with a personal trainer begins tomorrow night. I would love to start running, but we will see if that happens!

Here are a few pictures of Addi from the weekend...

Random Thoughts

Since I have been staying home with Addi bug, I have become quite obsessed with shopping online. Most of the time I'm just looking, but I have made some really good purchases lately. I LOVE HauteLook. It's a free website that sells designer items for less. I bought Addi a pretty pink toile baby blanket and jacket for next winter for CHEAP!! My purchase for today was Urban Decay Mineral Make-up. It retails for $30, but I only paid $7.50.

Speaking of shopping...Brad and I have decided to update our furniture! I'm so excited!! Everything we have in our house is hand me down. I'm very thankful for those hand me downs, but I think it's now time to purchase some furniture of our own. Right now, we are just going to buy living room furniture. I already have it picked out and we are going to buy it Saturday (I hope). We were going to buy bedroom furniture also, but I think we are going to buy a mattress instead. Below is the living room furniture I picked out...
I'm enjoying every second at home with Addi. I know before long I will have to go back to work and she will go to daycare. I'm dreading that day!!! However, I feel like i'm not being active enough staying home with her right now. I'm just sitting on my butt! I've been wanting to put her in the stroller and walk around the neighborhood with her, but the pollen has been so bad that I'm nervous to. We are members of a gym, but I just haven't been motivated enough to go. I figured the only way I would go is if I had a personal trainer. So today I called and made an appointment with one! I'm really excited and hopefully this will be the push I need to start working out again!

Addi is finally sleeping more at night. Last night she slept from 10:00 to 4:30. We are giving her her meds at 8:00 pm and this has made such a difference! She is eating 5 oz. every 4 hours during the day. Even though she's not crazy about tummy time, she is lifting her head up really well. I can't believe she will be 7 weeks old Thursday!! Time is flying. Right now she is taking a nap...

This is not the best picture b/c it's off my iPhone. Such a sweet angel!

6 Weeks Old

Yesterday, Addi had her one month check up. Because she was in the NICU for so long she is a little behind on her check ups! She weighed 11 lb. 11 oz. and was 22 3/4" long. Dr. Lytle was happy to see her wide awake and was impressed with the way she was moving. They had to prick her foot and she didn't cry at all. However, when it was time for her shot she cried for about 30 seconds and that was it! I was so proud of her!

Today really wore me out! I got up at 1:00am and then again at 4:45am to feed Addi. My mom arrived around 7:30 to help me get Addi ready for our busy day! I had my 6 week check up and that went well. We then went to Hamburger Heaven and ate lunch with Brad before our next appt. Addi slept all through my appt. and lunch! She was such a good girl!

We then arrived at Hand in Hand for our Early Intervention appointment. They evaluated her and decided to qualify her for treatment. For those of you who don't know Early Intervention is a program that works with children who either have been diagnosed with a disability or they are missing at least 25% of a certain motor skill. Addi hasn't been diagnosed nor is she missing any motor skills because she is a newborn. However, because of her brain injury and long stay in the NICU they still want to follow her and make sure she is developing properly and reaching certain milestones. A physical therapist will come to our home and work with her. I think this is a great program and i'm so thankful that they will be working with her. At her evaluation today, they said she was moving around great. They used different shiny and high contrast objects to test her vision. She did awesome! Even though her vision seems to be fine, I'm still going to make an appointment with the neuro-opthamologist.

When we got home this afternoon I fed her and then we laid down for a nap. This was around 4:00. I woke up at 9:00!!!! Brad had come into our room and got her and I never even checked up. I must have been exhausted. I hate when I nap for too long b/c I will be up all night. Oh well...maybe I can get some things done around the house! I have neglected our house and there is so much work to be done. I really really really need a maid! If anyone knows an inexpensive maid please let me know *just don't tell my husband* :)

We have another busy day tomorrow. Hopefully I can get some sleep tonight!

One down, three to go!

This past weekend was pretty good. Friday night, Brad's parents kept Addi so we could go to dinner. We went to Frontera and then made a Wal-mart run - very exciting. Haha! Addi had a tummy ache Friday night and was up all night long!! Brad was up with her while I slept. I took over around 6:00 the next morning. We spent most of the day at my parent's house Saturday celebrating mom's birthday. Brad put some ribs on the grill - he makes the best ribs ever!!!! If you haven't had them, you are really missing out! Sunday, I went with some friends to a housewarming party. It was nice getting out of the house for a while.

Today was Addi's first doctor's appt of the week (GI doctor). My mom took off work to come help me get Addi ready and to go with us. After an hour and a half of waiting, we met with the doctor. He said the only way to determine whether or not she has a milk allergy is to "challenge" her with another type of formula and see how she reacts to it. He wants to see us back in 6 weeks and maybe start her on something else. I go back to work in about 6 weeks, so that would be a horrible time to see how she reacts to a new formula! Oh well...I guess we will deal with it when the time comes.

I had big plans of getting up early and going to the gym this morning. Instead, I slept in with Addi bug! I had to go buy some new clothes this weekend b/c I was sick of wearing my maternity clothes. My pre-pregnancy clothes still don't fit so I have to get started back to the gym ASAP! I'm going to Zumba for the first time tomorrow night and I'm really excited! I might play with my Wii Fit tonight and go to the gym tomorrow morning. I got the Wii Fit for my birthday and have yet to use it. I need some motivation!! I also need some healthy recipes - any suggestions?

Until next time...

Life Lately

I can't believe it's almost been a week since we brought Addi home! It's been so much fun actually being able to take care of her ourselves. Because we were deprived of being able care for her the first month of her life, it's hard to complain about getting up in the middle of the night or changing dirty diapers. Brad and I have an agreement that I will get up with her during weeknights b/c he has to get up and go to work the next morning and needs his sleep. However, on the weekends, I get to sleep and he will take care of her! I'm excited about actually getting more than 3 hours of sleep at a time tonight! She is such a good baby. She only cries when she is hungry and once she's fed she just looks around observing everything.

We went to the doctor Monday afternoon for her newborn check-up. She was asleep the whole time b/c I had just given her her medicine. They even came in to prick her foot and she slept right through it. Poor baby, she is so used to being poked and prodded it doesn't bother her anymore! She now weighs a whopping 10 lbs. 12 oz. and is 23 inches long!! Big girl! We go back next Wednesday for her 1 month appt.

We will be super busy next week! She has a GI appt. on Monday, 1 month appt. on Wednesday and an appt. with Early Intervention on Thursday. I also have my follow up appt. on Thursday morning. We are so lucky that my mom has an abundant amount of vacation time and can take off work in order to help us out with all of these visits! The photographer is also supposed to come take pictures of her sometime next week. I can't wait for that!!

I haven't taken as many pictures as I had hoped, but here are a few...

Happy Easter!!

Addi is FINALLY home!! We were able to stay in the family room in the NICU Friday night and bring her home Saturday afternoon. We still have a lot of adjusting to do! If anything good could come from her being in the NICU it is she can sleep through anything - and I mean ANYTHING! She is so used to monitors beeping, babies crying, and people talking. However, Addi has her days and nights confused. She slept all day long yesterday and was up all night long. The medicine she is taking for her seizures makes her sleepy. Right now we are giving it to her around 1:00 in the afternoon. We are trying to make it where we can give it to her at night so she will sleep at night instead of during the day. It has to be given to her the same time everyday, so we are slowly adjusting the time of her doses.

This was the first Easter ever that we weren't able to go to church. We were told to keep Addi at home for about another month, so we just spent Easter morning with her. I took several pictures, but I will have to post them later b/c I can't find my card reader for my camera.

Thank you so much for your continued thoughts and prayers! We are so happy to have her home!!
