Christmas Firsts

This Christmas has been full of firsts.  It was Addi's first Christmas, our first Christmas in our new house, Addi's first snow, our first Christmas without my Grandmother and our first Christmas without my dad (he's in the hospital).  This has been a whirlwind of a month so far and I can tell you that I'm definitely ready for a new year!  Everything started about three weeks ago when my grandmother passed away.  We had just moved her into an assisted living and she LOVED it.  She died in her sleep and we knew she was happy.  This was a blessing for sure.  The day after we buried my grandmother, my dad had to be taken by ambulance to the ER.  He's still in the ICU, but thankfully he's doing a little better.

This year, we had Christmas with my mom's side of the family on Christmas Eve.  We usually do dinner, but instead we did lunch so we could make it to the visitation hours to see my dad.  It was definitely different being at my parent's house and not my grandmother's, but we all know she's in a better place.  We then went to Christmas Eve communion with Brad's parents.  My mom spent the night with us and was able to experience Addi's first Santa experience!

We woke up early Christmas morning and watched Addi open her presents.  Brad and I didn't do gifts this year, but it was fun watching Addi.  We then went and had Christmas at Brad's parent's house.  Then, we made our way to the hospital and had Christmas there!  My aunts spread out a blanket in the lobby and Addi opened her gifts!  She had a ball! Paper and gift tags are her favorite.  She got so many toys and I think every single one of them make some kind of noise (Oh joy!!).  :)

We will be celebrating Christmas with my dad's side of the family as soon as he gets home from the hospital.  I can't wait!!

Today, we were snowed in!! I took advantage of being stuck at home and I took down the Christmas decor.  Brad cleaned all day.  I seriously have the best hubby ever! He washed clothes, organized cabinets, cleaned the kitchen and cleaned out our closet.  I just haven't had the opportunity to do any of those things b/c my mind has been elsewhere, so I'm VERY thankful he helped me out today.

Addi has been fussy all day.  She wants to stand up and every time we try to sit her down or put her in the jumper she screams.  She also fights sleep like crazy.  I did, however, get her to take a three hour nap today!  (I took one with her :)

I hope everyone had a Merry Christmas!

9 Months Old

Addi is growing up SO fast. Her hair is growing even faster! It looks like it grows an inch every day. It’s very blonde. Brad’s hair was this color when he was younger and now his is dark brown, so I’m interested to see what color her hair will be. My hair on the other hand was pretty much orange when I was younger. It has a little more blonde to it now.

Brad thinks I’m crazy, but I’m trying to teach her sign language. I just started this week, so she hasn’t learned anything yet. I’ve had several people tell me that it’s a great way for your child to communicate with you before they can talk. Currently, I’m teaching her mommy, eat and kitty. I figured we would start slow.

She is not crawling yet, but has mastered going from a sitting position to her tummy. She is somewhat mobile b/c she scoots on her hiney.  It's the cutest thing ever. haha! She can also stand up if she’s holding on to something and can pull up to her knees on the crib. Her PT continues to work with her once a month and says she’s doing well.

She is so funny and has us laughing all of the time. She LOVES to clap and say “dada”. When she doesn’t want something she shakes her head back and forth (she specifically does this when I try to give her grape flavored medicine!). She has this fake cry and I can’t help but laugh at her when she does it.

We go for her 9 month well visit next Tuesday, so I’m not really sure how much she weighs or how tall she is. Two of her teeth are coming in on top – that makes four little teethies!! She is still wearing 12-18 month clothing. I’ve already got her wearing Christmas clothing b/c if I don’t put it on her now then she will never be able to wear it all!

Sick Day

Since Addi was so sick yesterday, we made the decision to keep her home today.  She was still snotty and I couldn't send her to daycare like that.  Especially considering she got sick in the first place b/c  other parent's send their kids to daycare sick.  I do, however, understand some parent's don't have a choice but to send them.

She slept until 8:00 and we stayed in our pj's all day!  I could tell she still didn't feel good, but she definitely wasn't as bad as yesterday!  We cuddled and played A LOT.  Even though she was sick, we still had a great day! She didn't get a good nap, so she ended up going to bed at 7:30.

We have discovered that she HATES grape flavoring.  She shakes her head and refuses to take the medicine.  This morning, I just put it in her bottle and gave it to her that way.  Tonight, I put her passy in one side of her mouth and squirted the medicine with a syringe in the other side.  That seemed to have worked!!

Here's a picture of her at snack time today...

Thanksgiving Weekend

Our Thanksgiving break started on Wednesday night.  We decided to go ahead and drive up to the farm and spend the night.  That was def a good idea considering it's very hard to get up early and travel with a 9 month old!  Plus we had three places to be (all in different cities) Thanksgiving Day, so that helped on the travel time! Here is a pic of Addi boo on our way up to the farm...
When we arrived we opened the back door to find her sleeping like this...
This is how she sleeps at home and I think it's the cutest thing ever!  I went ahead and gave her a bath and put her jams on before we left and I guess she thought is was bedtime!

Thanksgiving day we ate breakfast in Addison, Alabama.  The majority of Brad's family haven't met Addi yet, so it was fun for everyone to finally meet her!  Our next stop was Arley.  We ate lunch there.  We then packed up and headed back to Trussville to eat another late lunch at my parent's house.   By the end of the day, we were stuffed!  Addi was worn out b/c she had been passed around all day.  She definitely was the center of attention everywhere we went!  All in all she had a GREAT first Thanksgiving!

Brad had to work Friday morning and then he and Chad watched the game at our house and then headed back to the farm for a weekend of hunting.   I had some of my very best friends over Friday night.  I love when we all get together.  All we do is eat and talk, but it's so much fun and it's like we've never been apart! I couldn't ask for better friends!

For the first time in a LONG time I didn't go shopping on Black Friday.  I enjoyed cuddle time with my Addi and we just slept in.  We are definitely cutting back on Christmas gifts this year and I'm just finding better deals online.  Plus I don't have to fight the crowds.

Addi woke up fussy Saturday morning.  I just knew I would be taking her to the doctor come Monday morning.  I went ahead and gave her some ibuprofin b/c I knew her ears hurt.  She seemed to be better, UNTIL she woke up Sunday.  I took her temp and it was 103.  This confirmed in my mind that she def had another ear infection!  Brad and I loaded her up and headed to the doctor as soon as they opened.  He prescribed another antibiotic that will hopefully last until she gets her tubes on the 9th.  I'm definitely looking forward to the 9th!  I just want her to feel better.

I will leave you with one more pic of my girl.  The headband is a little much, but I like it and that's all that matters :)

Weekend and Another Ear Infection!

Last Thursday was our Footprints meeting.  We made 50 bags to be delivered to the hospital.  I LOVE being a part of this ministry and knowing that we are helping these NICU families.  This year, we have the opportunity to "adopt" a needy NICU family for Christmas.  I'm SO excited about this!  Addi is a little too young to open all kinds of presents this year, so instead Brad and I will be adopting a family and buying them presents!  Don't worry, Addi will still get a MANY presents from her grandparents and a few from us, but we just wanted to put our money towards this ministry this year :)

Anyways, Lurenda and I delivered the bags to the hospital Friday.  I was so excited to see our favorite nurse!! Every time I have come to visit she hasn't been there.  We just hugged and cried.  I showed her some pictures and she couldn't believe how much Addi has grown!  She will never know how much she means to our family.  When Addi was sick she was the only one to offer to pray over her with us.  She's a VERY special person!

Friday and Saturday Brad went hunting, so Addi and I spent time with my parents.  Saturday morning mom and I went to eat breakfast with my favorite cousin.  I miss spending time with her!

Sunday, we went to church and then to the outlets.  We had our bible study Thanksgiving party that night and then we crashed!

Addi was such a happy baby this weekend and I thought she was finally feeling better.  Well, this morning I get a call from the daycare saying she won't stop crying and she wont eat a bottle.  I went to pick her up and take her to the doctor. Guess what?!?! She has another ear infection!  I think this makes 7 since August.  Tonight, she seems to be feeling a little better, but she has a fever of 101.3.  Hopefully it will be gone in the morning!

Weekend Recap

Last Monday, we visited the ENT to talk about putting tubes in Addi's ears.  When they looked in her ears they just said that she had fluid behind them, but they weren't infected.  Towards the end of the week I noticed she was still congested, so I scheduled her an appointment with her pediatrician.  We get there Friday morning and he tells me her ears are definitely infected!  He said an infection can start to develop within four hours and that's why she didn't have the infection on Monday.  He didn't want her to go to daycare that day, so my weekend started Friday morning!

Saturday morning we had a yard sale!  Brad stayed home with Addi b/c it was SO cold outside!  That afternoon I took my yard sale money and went shopping.  They have just opened a new outlet mall in town and I decided to go see what I could find.  I bought Addi a few things and after I spent my limit I went to some friend's house and watched the rest of the Bama game.

We ended up not going to church Sunday b/c Addi was still snotty and I didn't want her around the other babies in the nursery.  I ended up going to Christmas village with my BFF and Addi.  It turned out to be a great afternoon! Addi had her first picture made with Santa!  She didn't smile, but we ended up with a decent picture.  The crazy guy taking the pictures made her pout up.  I would probably pout too if some weirdo was squeaking a toy in my face trying to make me smile! haha.

All in all we had a great weekend and I definitely enjoyed the extra hour of sleep!

First Halloween

I know that I am a little late, but I wanted to write about Addi's first Halloween.  A couple of months ago I began looking for costumes for her and I found a pink elephant.  I thought it was so cute, so I ordered it right away!  She was the CUTEST pink elephant ever!

Our neighborhood celebrated Halloween on Saturday night, so we decided to go do some trick or treating of our own.  Since she is too young to go around door to door, we just went to see family.  Our first stop was to my mamaw's house. She kept me while my mom worked from the time I was 6 weeks old until I was old enough to stay by myself.  Mom used to take me to her house every Halloween so she could see me dressed up.  I decided to do the same with Addi this year!

We also made a few stops to both of our parent's house. Our little elephant began to get sleepy and we called it a night. Sunday, we went to our church's fall festival.  It was so much fun! She was really good and didn't mind being dressed up.  Here are a few pictures...

My sweet Addi girl LOVES bath time!  She splashes water everywhere and loves playing with her toys.  If you turn the faucet on she tries to "grab" the water - it's so cute!  I just thought this picture of her was sweet and I wanted to share it :)

I'm so glad i'm off work tomorrow!  For some reason we celebrate Columbus Day on the 29th.  I think it's weird, but I will happily take any day off I can get! I think Addi and I will just spend a lazy day at the house.  We will, however, have to make a trip to the store to buy more Halloween candy b/c a "ghost" in our house ate everything I had already bought!

I can't wait to share pictures of my Addi boo all dressed up for Halloween!

Monday, October 25, 2010

It's been FOREVER since my last post.  I've just been so busy lately.  Since Addi will be 8 months old next week and I skipped her 7 month post, here are some Addi updates:

* She will scoot around on her tummy to reach toys, but she's not crawling yet
* She LOVES to clap!
* She eats either yogurt or a fruit and cereal for breakfast and a fruit and veggie for lunch and dinner along with 3 to 4  6 ounce bottles
* "Da da" is her favorite word - we are working on "ma ma" :)
* She weighs 21 lb. 8 oz.
* She's wearing 12-18 month clothing b/c she is so long!
* She can hold and drink out of a sippy cup, but she prefers banging it on things instead
* We bought her first pair of shoes about a month ago and she loves to bang them together to hear them squeak

I need to update this blog more often just so I can remember everything she is accomplishing.  She's growing SO fast.

Since August we have been to the doctor every 2 weeks b/c she keeps getting ear infections.  It's hard to tell when she is sick b/c she's such a good baby and hardly ever cries.  They told me at daycare the other day that she cries MAYBE once a week.  (Just thought I would brag for a second ) :)  Anyways, I've figured out that whenever she has a stuffy nose more than likely she has an ear infection.  Well, I took her to the doctor yet again today and he said it's time for tubes.  We are meeting with the ENT on Monday.  I've heard once they get tubes they are completely different babies and it makes such a difference.  I just don't want her to hurt anymore!

Her doctor told me today how impressed with her he is.  She's surprised everyone with how well she is developing.  Her physical therapist came to see her last week and gave her a great report.  The only thing she has noticed is that Addi doesn't roll around a lot.  I've seen her roll over before and I truly just think she doesn't care to!  The PT gave us some exercises to work on, but she said there is no cause for concern.  I just have to realize that all babies develop differently and at their own pace.  It's still hard not to compare her to other babies her age.

Maybe I wont wait two months before I update again :)

Fun Weekend with the Fam!

We have just had the best weekend! It was spent relaxing, eating too much and football!  Friday night we went out to eat and then to my parent's house.  I think Addi is getting shy like her momma!  We ran in to some people we knew at the restaurant and when they would speak to her she just put her head down and wouldn't look at them!  When she is with us, she is so talkative and NOT shy.  I think it's cute that her little personality is starting to come out.

We had people over for the game Saturday.  I just love having a house full of people watching the game! The boys smoked some chicken, I made baked beans, and we had pie and cake for dessert. Here is Addi in her football jersey saying "Roll Tide!"
Today, we were pretty lazy.  Addi was kind of fussy this morning, so we didn't make it to church.  I think she has more teeth coming in.  We spent the rest of the day doing laundry, napping and playing with Addi boo!

Brad starts a new job tomorrow, so be praying for him. I'm SO proud of him and all of his accomplishments! I will leave y'all with one more picture of my girl... She is definitely teething because her shirt is soaking wet from where she's been drooling! But, it's still a cute picture :)

When I used to visit Addi in the hospital I couldn’t help but find myself wondering about the other families that were there. What was their situation? What are they going through? There were a couple of babies there that I never saw a parent visiting. At first I was furious at those parents. How can you have a sick baby and not even come and visit?? I began thinking about it and I realized that not everyone is as lucky as we were. Some of the mom’s in there had to work during the day and visit when they could at night. Some had to just visit on the weekends because they lived out of town. I had no clue what some of these families were going through, but all I could do was pray for them.

Ever since Addi was dismissed from the hospital, I knew I wanted to give back to the NICU in some form or fashion. I began to Google “NICU ministries”. I came across Footprints Ministry. They have three chapters in our state and one happens to me in my area! I knew I had to sign up to help. Footprints makes gift bags to give to the NICU families. They contain a bible, burp cloth, receiving blanket, disposable camera, gift cards, etc. We also pray for the families. My personal prayer for them is that they know Jesus Christ and they have faith and trust in Him to take of them in their times of need. I couldn’t imagine going through that without having faith in Him. Footprints is also trying to start a prayer/support group for these families. This is something I’m really excited about! I had plenty of people surrounding me that I could have talked to, but it would have been nice to have someone who has been in my shoes and actually understood what I was going through. We want to encourage these families and let them know that God is there for them. They might not understand why things happen the way they do, but God’s ways are greater than our own!

Even though I wouldn’t want Addi to ever have any pain or hurt, I wouldn’t change the way things happened. I’m actually thankful for what happened. It brought my husband and I closer to together and closer to the Lord. It made us more thankful than we ever would be for our little girl. Her story has been a blessing and encouragement to others. It’s also given me the opportunity to be involved in this awesome ministry to help share God’s love.

Please let me know if you would like to volunteer your time to Footprints!

Show Us Your Life - Home Tour

Today, at Kelly's Korner she is doing a "Show us Your Life - Home Tour". Well, this is my living room!  It still needs A LOT of work.  We moved into our house about 3 months ago and I still haven't done everything I want to yet.  I would like to add an area rug, coffee table, new end tables, and lamps.  We bought our furniture about a month before we moved in.  I'm not 100% crazy about it.  It's a little "manly" looking for me :)  My husband really picked it out.  One thing I will say is it's VERY comfortable! Every seat in the love seat and both ends of the sofa recline.  All of my decorations pretty much came from Kirklands.  They are priced reasonably and have nice stuff! My favorite decoration is the piece above the loveseat. Overall, the room is very simple.  I can't wait to decorate for fall!

6 Months Old

My sweet angel will be 6 months old Saturday.  Time has flown by and I can't remember my life before her.  I love her more and more every day.  She makes my heart happy!

A lot has happened since my last update.  Here are a few exciting things that have gone on in the life of Addi:

Two teeth have come in.  Teething hasn't been bad at all.  I know this is an up close picture and if you look closely you can see two little teethies on the bottom!

She attended her first wedding.  My sweet Hannah Jane got married and Addi wouldn't have missed it for the world!

She's moved on from rice cereal and has tried apple sauce and sweet potatoes.  She just holds the food in her mouth and once she realizes it's there, she spits it out. Lovely!  I think she liked the sweet potatoes more than the applesauce!

She can sit up on her own now!! I'm so proud of her!  She's still a little wobbly, but continues to make progress.

She has also had her first ear infection :(  She was absolutely pitiful!!

Today was her follow-up with her neurologist, Dr. Mathisen. She was scheduled for an EEG as well.  I was planning on being back there with her for her test, but the nurse told me I had to sit in a chair and no matter how much she screamed or cried I wasn't allowed to get up from the chair to comfort her and if I did, I would be asked to leave the room.  I knew I wouldn't be able to handle watching her get upset without doing something about it, so I just decided to stay in the waiting room with my mom.  When the nurse brought her back she said she didn't cry at all.  Her hair was all matted up from the gel they put on her head.  It was quite humorous.  I wish I would have taken a picture!  We quickly got a washcloth and a brush and fixed it the best we could :)  We then met with Dr. M and he gave us the results - he said the results were excellent and she's "100% normal".  He was happy with her development and told us he really didn't have to continue seeing her.  I decided that I wanted to her come back for one more visit with him in 6 months.  He also said an MRI is not necessary at this point! PRAISE JESUS!!! I can't wrap it around my head that 6 months ago we were worried about her future and the problems she would experience and now she's a beautiful, HEALTHY baby girl!!!!  That just goes to show that God is in control.  He can do so much more than we could ever imagine.  I'm so thankful for all of the blessings he has given us - we are so undeserving.

Needless to say, today was a GREAT day! My mom, Addi and I did a little shopping and ran some errands after her appt.  She talked and laughed all day!  She's such a happy baby!  Her new thing is sticking her tongue out and blowing and thus spitting everywhere.   She also has a high pitched "squeal" that she has just started doing.

I'm really looking forward to this weekend.  Friday, we are playing church softball.  Saturday, Addi is having her 6 month pictures made and we are having people over to cookout and watch football.  I still haven't decided what to cook Saturday.  I know Brad and Chad are grilling ribs and chicken.  I need some good snacks, sides and desserts to go with it - any suggestions???

Maybe I won't wait a month before my next post :)

A Much Needed Update

I have been super busy lately and just haven't had time to update.  Please forgive me!  By the time I get home from work, play with my Addi boo, cook dinner, bathe Addi, put her to bed and make bottles for the next day, I'm usually pretty exhausted!  Being a full time working mom really is a lot of work!

I've been trying to work out lately.  I went to Zumba three days last week and tried to run the days that I didn't go.  I would probably be losing more weight if I could stay away from McDonald's caramel frappes and "It's Your Birthday Cake" ice cream from Publix!  I'm seriously addicted to both.

My Addi boo is growing so fast! I just want to make time stand still.  Before I know it I'm going to be chasing her around the house.  Today was her first day to try rice cereal with a spoon.  She didn't really know what to think! Here's a pic:
She didn't eat very much, but i'm sure she will get the hang of it before too long!

This morning Brad came to me and said "Mary Beth you have to see this".  I followed him to Addi's room and looked in her crib.  She had completely turned herself around during the night.  Her head was where her feet were and vice versa.  I had to take a picture.
Hand in Hand is coming to work with her tomorrow, so hopefully I will have an update on her progress.  So far she has done fantastic!  She's ALMOST to the point where she can sit up by herself.  She likes tummy time for about 5 minutes and then she's over it.  She can roll over, but would rather just lay there. Haha!

Until next time...

Four Month Doctor's Visit, Hand in Hand and A Weekend Away

Today, I took Addi to her four month check up.  She weighs 17 lbs. 6 oz. (97th percentile) and 26 inches long (91st percentile).  Because of her previous stomach infections he wants to keep her on the Alimentum until her 6 month visit (Sept. 7th).  He said maybe a few weeks before that visit I can try to give her some rice cereal.  I can't wait until we start with baby foods b/c I feel bad feeding her just formula.  If it was me I would get sick of it!  I know that's all she knows, but she has to be ready for something new.  My mom said that all I ate was formula until I was one.  I guess all doctors have different opinions about when you should start feeding them baby food.  Addi's situation is a little different though.  I'm glad we are taking extra precautions to ensure nothing happens that shouldn't.  Apparently we are also in the market for a new car seat.  The one she is in now has a max weight of 20 lbs.  The doctor said she should stay in a rear facing car seat until she is 20 pounds AND a year old.  I thought it was one or the other, but I guess I was wrong!  I'm going shopping for one this weekend.  I also have to buy more pj's for her.  She's outgrowing them so fast.  She's so long that she needs size 9 or 12 months b/c the others are way too short.

Last week, Addi's physical therapist came to work with her.  She got a GREAT report!  I'm so thankful she has the opportunity to work with Hand in Hand.  It's actually something good that came out of everything that happened.  Her therapist always gives me little exercises I can do with her.  The little tips she gives me would probably be good for any parent of an infant. She also lets me know how she should be developing.  As a first time parent, I'm not really sure what milestones she should be reaching and at what age she should be reaching them.  So, the therapist is a good resource for me!  For instance, Addi found her feet at about 4 months old and the therapist told me that was really great because that is really something most babies do at 5 months old.  That made me feel really good to know Addi is marching right along with meeting her developmental milestones!

This past weekend I went to Atlanta to be with some of my very best friends.  We had so much fun!  I love that we can go months without seeing each other and then when we get together it's like no time has passed at all.  This was Brad's first weekend to keep Addi all by himself.  I trust him more than anyone to take care of her, but I was still a little nervous.  When I got home I expected to see the house a wreck but instead he had cleaned our bedroom, washed all the dirty clothes and organized our closet!  I was so surprised!  And Addi was all in one piece!

Summer Lovin'

One of my favorite things to do during the summer is going swimming!  I was lucky enough to stay with my Mamaw who had a swimming pool and I'm pretty sure I swam every day during the summer months.  Today, after church we decided to venture into Wal-Mart and we found Addi a baby pool!  Because it was so hot this afternoon, we waited until about 4:00 to set the pool up.  I put her in her little bikini *the cutest thing EVER* and floppy hat and she was ready to go!  She LOVED it!  Every time we splashed her with water she started laughing - it was so cute!  After about 15 minutes in the pool she started to get fussy.  So we went in for her bath and bottle.  She's sound asleep right now :)  Here are a few pictures of our afternoon...

New Tricks, Toys and Decorations

There has been a lot going on in the Alston household lately!  First of all, Addi has been rolling over! She rolled from her back to her tummy first.  She's only done it twice, but I was so proud!  I've lost my video camera during our move, but I will try to get it on video once I find it.  But here's a picture of her in the rolling process :)
This week she has also discovered her feet for the first time!  Every time I lay her down the first thing she reaches for is her feet.  It's so cute

Her nana and pop also bought her a jumper. She LOVES it.  There is a little frog that spins on the jumper and she doesn't take her eyes off of it.

This past Monday I was off work and my two WONDERFUL Aunts and my mom came down to help me decorate.  I'm NOT a decorator and I really have no clue where to start when it comes to decorating a house.  Thank goodness they know what they are doing.  Today, I finally finished hanging a few remaining pictures and Brad hung some blinds that I bought.  I still need some candles for the mantle and a rug.  Also, I can't decide if something needs to go behind my chair. What do you think?  Here are a few pictures.

This is a picture of a buffet I had in my dining room of the old house.  My aunts moved it in my kitchen and I think it looks really good. Thanks Aunt Donna and Aunt Sissy! I love y'all very very much! :)

I'm going to leave y'all with a picture of Addi that just cracks me up.  Brad had just fed Addi and was trying to burp her when I took this.  It's so funny!

Four Months

My sweet girl is four months old today!  She is growing way too fast.  Her little personality continues to shine through more and more each day.  She loves to laugh and "talks" all the time.  All you have to do is look at her and smile and she starts laughing.  Here are some things that I want to remember about Addi at four months old:
* She eats 6 ounces every four hours
* She wears 9 month clothing (some 6 month still fits her)
* She sleeps through the night.  I put her to bed around 7:30 and wakes up around 6:00
* She takes mini power naps through the day.
* She LOVES her passy and giraffe blankie
* She rolls from side to side, but still isn't rolling all of the way over.  I think she will roll from her back to her tummy before she rolls tummy to back.
* She has really good head control and likes to sit in her bumbo seat.

My baby is growing way too fast.  I love her more and more everyday and I'm so thankful that God chose me to be her mommy.

Movin' On Up

Sorry it has been so long since my last post.  We have been without internet and cable for the past week.  We moved into our new house! We still have a few odds and ends left at the old house, but we are getting there.  One thing we have learned from this moving experience is - the next time we move we are hiring someone!!  Brad and Chad worked their hiney's off in the blistering heat.  So far, I love living out here! It takes me about 10 extra minutes to get to work so it's not too bad.

I have some updated pictures of Addi, but during the move I have misplaced my card reader.  Once I find it I will update!  She is doing great.  I am constantly amazed at how good of a baby she is.  The ONLY time she cries is when she's hungry.  I lay her down to sleep around 7:30 and she sleeps until about 6:00.  The past few days she has been wide awake when we go in there to wake her up.  She just lays there looking around until we go in there.  She will be four months old tomorrow so I will give a full update then!

I hope everyone has a safe and fun 4th of July!

Father's Day

Today was my sweet hubby's first Father's Day! He has already shown how great a father he is and he loves his little girl more than anything.  I'm so thankful to have such a loving, caring, sweet husband to be a daddy to Addi. This morning we went to church and he wouldn't let me put Addi in the nursery because he wanted her with him.  He held her all through church and she never made a peep.  He spent the rest of the day just holding and taking care of her. Addi couldn't ask for a better daddy! Here are a few pictures of Brad since he became daddy...

I'm also very thankful for my daddy.  He's always been there for me and spoiled me rotten :)  This is also his first Father's Day as "Pop".  He just starts grinning from ear to ear every time he sees her.
Happy Father's Day to all the dads out there!

No Time to Waste

I want to urge everyone to head on over to Kelly's Korner and read her blog titled "Jesus".  If I had to put my faith or what I believe into words that's what I would say.  I'm not very good with words and Kelly is. So, go read it!

Our church started handing out these "business cards".  They have our church's information on them along with a bible verse - "But God shows His love for us in that, while we were still sinners, Christ died for us." Romans 5:8  We are suppose to hand them out to people wherever we go.  I have held on to mine for the past month.  Every time I would go to use it, I would chicken out.  I finally decided to put it on top of my debit card in my wallet.  So, the next time I bought something it would be right there staring me in the face and I would have to use it.  Last night I went to Zaxby's to pick up dinner and I get my wallet out and on top of my debit card was the Romans 5:8 card looking right at me.  I handed it to the woman in the drive through and just simply said "There's a really good bible verse on the back and my church's info is on the front."  Now, how hard was that???? It's such a neat and easy way to share the gospel.  It helps people who are shy - like me.  The more I hand out the card, the easier it will become.  I think it's a great tool.

A close family friend passed away this week.  It was very unexpected and it made me realize how short life is.  Our days are numbered and few.  I don't have time to "chicken out" when I go to tell people about my Jesus.  If you want people to come to the Lord, then you need to tell them now before it's too late. I'm definitely going to work on this in my own life too.

In other news, Addi has been the best little sleeper lately.  She sleeps 12 hours now!! It's wonderful!  I have also been feeding her 6 oz every 4-5 hours.  I can't believe how much she has grown.  Saturday, I took a bunch of pictures of her and then I realized my SD card wasn't in the camera! I hate when I do that.  I promise I will have picture updates soon.

I'm going to be pretty busy these next two weeks.  We are starting to pack up the house.  They moved the closing up five days, so we are moving next weekend.  It doesn't feel real yet, but I'm so excited!

I hope everyone has a great week!

Memorial Day Weekend

Well...we got the house!! Saturday, we went and looked at it again.  There is still some work that needs to be done, but thankfully it's not much.  Since it's a foreclosure, ALL of the appliances are gone.   Pretty much all of the light fixtures are gone too.  After we went and looked at the house, we went with my parents to Home Depot.  They bought us a light fixture for the foyer and kitchen as our housewarming present.  Thanks mom and dad! :)  Most of the things that need to be done will have to wait until we sell our house.

Over the past 5 days Addi has been very congested.  She woke up coughing this morning.  Her pediatrician told me if she's congested for about a week to bring her in.  Well, thankfully the doctor's office was open today.  This morning we woke up and I called and got her an appointment.  Her doctor was off today so we had to see someone else.  Addi has her first cold :(  There's not much we can do about it except keep using the humidifier and saline drops.  The doctor said I did the right thing by bringing her in though.  I figured all of this was caused by her first week in daycare.  She's just not used to being around that many germs.  Hopefully her stuffiness will clear up soon.

On another note, I'm still amazed at how many people prayed for Addi while she was sick.  We keep meeting people who have no clue who we are, but they tell us how much they prayed for her.  It keeps reminding me how important it is to have a daily prayer life.  I'll be honest, I struggle with this.  I pray every day, but not like I should.  It was so easy to be in prayer all of the time while she was in the hospital.  But, now that things are "normal" it's hard to keep up that active prayer life.  One of my goals for this week is to work on my morning quiet time and my time in prayer.  I'm not a morning person, but I realize that spending time with the Lord is the best way to start your day.  Please pray that I stay committed to my quiet times!
